Antibiotics Teaming up in the Fight Against Superbugs - Ozone is not Resistant - Ozone is the Solution to Superbugs

Impending danger of Superbugs.

While the term "superbug" may sound like something from a Sci-Fi movie it is far far fiction. Superbugs are infectious bacteria that have become resistant to our antibiotics. Economist Jim O'Neill, the Chairman of the Review on Antimicrobial Resistance, predicts that "superbugs, if left unchecked, could kill up to 10 million people per year by 2050, equivalent to one person every three seconds."

Bacteria adapt quickly and ones that survive a blast of antibiotics pass that ability along and as this continues; only the strong remain creating entire populations of antibiotic resistant bacteria. These populations become resistant to antibiotics that a few years earlier would have cured an infection and doctors have been moving onto new drugs in cycles until the bacteria became resistant to them too.

This cycle is NOT sustainable and we are losing the race against superbugs. Recently, a UK government predicted that superbugs could "cast us back into the dark ages of medicine" by 2050. (Irving, 2018) Even scarier, the drugs that are the "last line of defense" are beginning to fail and in large numbers. "Carbapenems are a class of antibiotics used to attack bacteria that have become resistant to other more common antibiotics. The fact that they are now failing in greater numbers is a cause for concern." (Franco, 2016)

To combat this, researchers are searching globally for new antibiotics and new techniques. Scientists have found promising leads in unexpected places like platypus milk and rattle snake venom but other approaches are focusing on making existing treatments useful again (Irving, 2018). They are doing this by including molecules that can kill the bacteria's immunity to drugs and in a sense "supercharging" old antibiotics.

New work coming out of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center falls into the category of boosting up old drugs. Researchers have found that by combining two antibiotics that no longer work can create a treatment that is once again effective. "Their focus was on colistin, an antibiotic that was discontinued decades ago due to its toxicity to the kidneys. In desperation, scientists have dusted it off in recent years as a last resort, but bacteria are even developing resistance to that now, too." (Irving, 2018)

In a series of trials that combined colistin with 19 other antibiotics, several were found to be effective against superbugs. Linezolid, fusidic acid and clindamycin were the clear standouts.

"It was remarkable to see two drugs, each of which is inactive on its own against these bacteria, inhibiting them in combination," says Thea Brennan-Krohn, co-author of the study. "These findings suggest that colistin retains sub-lethal activity against colistin-resistant bacteria, which may enable drugs like linezolid to reach their targets." (Irving, 2018) Another advantage of the combination id that only small doses of colistin are needed so it greatly reduces toxicity, and it also means that future resistance should develop more slowly buying researchers more time to create new drugs and longer-term strategies.

We partner with Empire City Labs. If they accept your insurance - your labs are free and you get a 36 - 64 page workup to find the root cause of your condition. We test for toxic mold exposure, Lyme and co-infections, unexplained chronic fatigue, full adrenal and thyroid panels, advanced cardiac panels, food allergies, irritable bowel/leaky gut panels, hormones, heavy metals, viral syndromes, bone health, genomics and pharmacogenomic testing for medications to see if you should or should not take certain drugs.

We have advanced ozone therapies to treat your condition.  All chronic disease is caused by altered intestinal microbiome or leaky gut and chronic disease utilizes oxygen so you become oxygen depleted. Ozone increases your oxygen utilization so your body can heal rapidly.

We are trained and board-certified in the leading international ozone therapies.  I.V. ozone alone or paired with chelation, glutathione, Meyer's cocktails are part of our treatment options.

We have the most advanced ozone equipment from Germany in the world for 10 pass MAH.

We offer bladder, vaginal and rectal ozone insufflation.
