Saccharin, aspartame and sucralose drives your blood sugar levels up. Not exactly, what the ads say.

This is false marketing.  Artificial sweeteners are supposed to prevent elevated blood glucose levels.

I'm glad that the Israeli scientists studied this subject. Researchers found that all of the artificial sweeteners disturbed blood sugar levels despite the fact that these sweeteners are not digested or absorbed by the human body.   Interestingly, microbes from mice who drank saccharin in their water were transplanted into other mice via fecal transplant and the recipients showed impaired glucose tolerance. Researchers were able to identify linked pathways to diabetes and glucose tolerance in the mice and they confirmed that mice who were sweetened had increased amounts of specific short-chain fatty acids in their guts.

Of Mice and Men

Humans showed impairments in glucose tolerance after 6 days of saccharin doses in those who had susceptible microbiomes. Long-term consumption of artificial sweeteners was associated with higher central obesity and impaired glucose tolerance.

As always, the authors of the study caution that no one can make recommendations about whether anyone should consume sweeteners or not. The exact mechanism of action is unknown. It may be that less desirable bacteria thrive or bad bacteria get a competitive edge against the good or normal bacteria might be poisoned.

I will go on the record "whether you are susceptible or not artificial sweeteners cause a negative side effect and at best a null effect."  Don't use them.  Don't buy them.  Repair your gut with GOOD GUT products.  Try it for 21 days and you'll see results.  ORDER GOOD GUT
