How to Prevent Gout - Second Nature Care Nutrition and Colonics

What should I eat?

Age old question and it's complicated because you should eat according to your bloodtype, genomics, age, metabolic capacity, food allergies and intestinal microbiome demands and corrections of those demands.

If you are of Asian descent and you eat poultry, fish and shellfish you might be at higher risk for gout. According to a new study from Singapore, Chinese participants who ate more animal proteins were more likely to develop gout.  Eggs, nuts, seeds and grains did not increase the risk of gout. In contrast to the high protein group those who ate soy and had a plant-based diet were least likely to develop gout.

Did you know that gout is an independent risk factor for cardiovascular disease?

Gender Bias

Women were at higher risk for gout if they ate fish, shellfish and dairy products.

If you have a family history of gout and you are Asian it might be worthwhile to increase your intake of organic soy and legumes and reduce your intake of animal proteins.
There is never one magical diet or one diet fits all. It is a blend of using advanced labs, your intuition of how you feel and finding good quality foods with the least environmental exposures.
