Zonulin is a protein that when it binds to its receptor it leads to a break-down of tight gap junctions in the intestines. Like a thrill-seeking outrageous underage teenager it slips past the gut bouncers at the intestinal nightclub and does a wild dance in the gut lining that tears down the body's defenses and opens all the doors to inflammation from food proteins, environmental toxins and unfriendly microbes. The gut looks like a trashed house party.

You are committed to a Paleo diet but you live in the modern world. This modern world where you are working and commuting 12-14 hours per day.  You can't even do your laundry let alone cook beef broth all day. There is nothing fishy about a recent Finnish study that showed a diet rich in fatty fish changed the HDL's or good cholesterol even in men and women who had elevated blood sugar levels.

It's preventable and we need to prevent cardiovascular disease starting now. It is now recommended that children do lipid screening for nonfasting non-HDL cholesterol levels or a fasting lipid panel between the ages of nine and 11.

Exposure to neurotoxins that affect the brain are part of the autism spectrum disorder puzzle. Chemicals in our everyday lives create toxic effects that damage the brain especially in children. It is estimated that Americans have lost over 41 million I.Q. points because of chemical exposures in our environment. Furniture, clothing, cleaning products, home goods and food introduce neurotoxins into our bodies. These chemicals not only lower I.Q's; they are linked to ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, endocrine disorders and mood disorders.
