Is an elimination diet the answer to IBS?

A recent study conducted at Yale University utilized the ALCAT Test to identify intolerable substances in IBS patients and place them on a therapeutic diet in which these foods were eliminated. The ALCAT Test identifies cellular defense responses to food, chemical substances (e.g., additives or xenobiotics), biogenic amines, substances in supplements, etc. Inflammation cascades can lead to a chronically over-activated immune system are initiated and maintained by the cells of the innate immune system. Thus, inflammation contributing items from the diet may contribute to the allover immune balance in health and disease.

They found that the diets guided by leukocyte activation tests reduced symptoms in the patients.

At Second Nature Care we have the tools to help you take control of your IBS. We offer the ALCAT Test and can work with you to identify trigger foods and create a diet that will work best for you at  alleviating the symptoms of IBS.

We check for immediate food allergies or IgE, hidden food allergies IgG and we offer a complete stool profile to identify intestinal pathogens.

We also offer our Good Gut Program. The gut microbiota directs how the immune cells behave in other parts of the body.  Microbes in the gut shed proteins, carbohydrates and other molecules that can leave the gut and play a role in either conjuring up or suppressing disease. Bacterial metabolites are present in many body tissues - lungs, amniotic fluid and breast milk. I.V. Nutrients, Good Gut products and dietary changes based on ALCAT results can keep you in remission and reverse IBS.
