Entering your Cocoon- Hardcore HCG strategies Part 2

A quarter of the way into the HCG journey I have acquired a few new ways to not only make things a little easier, but get the most out of your journey!

Hey everyone - it's Winter and I'm so excited that I'm able to continue sharing the ups, downs, tips and tricks that I'm facing with the HCG diet. Hopefully, this blog will offer support and new ideas to those who have already started their journey or give anyone thinking about trying the extra push to go for it.

I wanted to tell you guys about a little addition to the HCG shots that I'm using. They are called MIC shots and Dr. G's come from an FDA-approved compounding company. The shots contain methionine, inositol, and choline. MIC turns up the metabolic furnace to burn fat. These shots turbo charge your weight loss! They are an awesome way to maximize weight loss on the diet.

Tip #1: DO NOT PANIC

A few days ago, I stepped on the scale and I had gone back up a pound that I had lost. Needless to say I was very upset. I started to doubt myself thinking maybe I just can't lose weight. Then I began to doubt the effectiveness of the diet. To think that I could gain a pound while following the diet so strictly made me want to give up. Well this all seems silly to me now because the next day I went back down 3 pounds! If you see the scale go up or stall, do not get nervous. Keep doing what you are doing because you may have just retained some water.

Tip #2 : Exercise

I decided that since I've changed my eating habits I should also get more active. I finally started using the gym membership I've had for a year.

  • Stick to cardio. Cardio burns fat and even reduces anxiety levels. If you are a stress eater like me try to change your habit from snacking to some light cardio.
  • Do not do weight training. You will not be able to track your weight loss as easily if you are gaining muscle.
  • Do not overdue it. The HCG diet does not require you to exercise to lose weight. Since you are taking in so little in calories you do not necessarily want to burn all of them off.

Tip #3: Portion Control

On any diet it can be really tempting to lie to yourself about what you've taken in. Personally I'm tempted to ignore an extra ounce or two on my protein. I think "It can't hurt right" and then promptly stop myself from doing this. Portion control is very important on this diet - do not cheat yourself.

  • The diet calls for 3.5oz of a lean meat. Weigh it raw and really try to stick to the portion outlined. You do not need the extra ounce - it is just your brain thinking you are somehow shorting yourself.
  • Trim all the fat off before cooking. You will be able to consume a little more by doing this before cooking because you will have a more accurate weight for the protein itself. You also will not be tempted to eat the fatty parts.
  • If you are not on the HCG diet, but would like to learn more about portion control and how important it is check out http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dnpa/nutrition/pdf/portion_size_pitfalls.pdf

MEAL IDEA: If you are getting tired of just having a piece of meat and some vegetables - have a salad. Slice up 3.5 ounces of chicken or steak, mix it in with a cup and a half of lettuce and a tablespoon of red wine vinegar. Changing up the presentation of your meal can make a big difference if you feel like you are eating the same things over and over.

On another note if you have been thinking about going gluten-free this is a great time to try it. Eliminating gluten from my diet has changed my life. Eat a gluten-free cracker (they taste great) instead of a regular one during the diet and see how you feel.
