Every Body Needs Testosterone

Everyone needs testosterone for strong bodies, fit minds and strong immune systems.

Testosterone levels are reduced with our daily exposure to plastics.

Have you ever tried to have a plastic-free day?  It's difficult.  A recent study found that most of us have increased urinary levels of endocrine-disrupting phthalates.  Phthalates are found in flexible plastic and some personal-care product and these chemicals are reducing our levels of testosterone in men, women and children.

Phthalates are endocrine-disrupting chemicals that affect fertility and sexual development

13 urinary phthalate metabolites and serum testosterone levels were evaluated in 2208 humans in 2011 -2012. Multiple phthalate exposures significantly reduced testosterone in both sexes and the strongest reduction was among females in the 40 to 60 year age group. Testosterone levels in this group were reduced by 24% with links to mono-benzyl phthalates.

This is why I speak to all women about reducing their exposures to plastics. Another study showed that exposure to phthalates reduced the efficacy of chemotherapy in women with breast cancer.

Another phthalate, DEHP, was implicated with a 20.1% decrease in testosterone.  DEHP reduced testosterone up to 29% in boys ages 6 to 12.

We test and treat low T.  We offer safe bio-identical solutions for men and women.

Adult men had the least reduction of testosterone among men ages 20 and 40

Researchers don't understand the full phthalate impact on the gender differences at different life stages in humans. Until now they did not know that there was a gender difference. It's important that sensitive and well-validated research continues because everyone needs testosterone for growth and development. Women need testosterone for sexual function, libido, energy, cognitive functions, bone density, cardiovascular function and overall health and well-being.

Most products that contain phthalates are not labeled

This is another reason that you need to sign petitions and lobby your legislators for transparent labeling.  Throw out your plastic water bottles and only drink filtered water in ceramic, stainless steel or glass containers.

We offer phthalate testing with full environmental detoxification
