This is a photo of a Boswellia tree. One of our I.V. ozone patients with bladder cancer brought a wonderful scientific paper to my attention. Thank you L.B. Nature has answers for modern conditions.

Frankincense oil comes from gum resins from the Boswellia tree. I use boswellic acid as a natural anti-inflammatory for Rheumatoid Arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease and other autoimmune conditions. I did not know about its anti-neoplastic properties in the treatment of bladder cancer.

The great news is that frankincense activated genes responsible for cell cycle arrest, cell growth suppression and programmed cell death in J82 cells. (Frank, M. et. al., BMC, 2009).

Frankincense distinquishes cancerous cells from normal bladder cells. It suppressed cancer cell progression without damaging healthy cells.

Frankincense resin regulates the immune system through cytokine production. It prevents leukocyte infiltration which can damage organs and joints. Frankincense is anti-bacterial and anti-fungal. This essential oil was known to midwives and was used to prevent infection after birth. The three wise men were wise enough to bring it to the birth of Jesus. "Frankincense extracts from Boswellia species acts as an anti-cancer in rat astrycytoma cell lines, human leukemia cell lines and chemically induced mouse skin cancer models. The resin has reduced swelling in glioblastoma patients and reversed multiple brain metastases in a breast cancer patient." (Frank, M. et al., BMC, 2009).

It turns out that frankincense contains several active components that protect against ulcerative colitis, galactosamine-induced hepatitis and demonstrates anti-cancer properties against meningioma, leukemia, liver cancer cells, melanoma, fibrosarcoma and colon cancer cells.

Do you need any more proof? We currently use ozone in our bladder instillations, I.V. ozone and high dose Vitamin C drips for bladder cancer. There is no reason that we can't add in frankincense essential oil into our formula.

The authors of this study concluded that "Frankincense oil can discriminate bladder cancer cells and normal urothelial cells in culture. The oil suppresses cell survival and induces apoptosis in cultured bladder cancer cells. Based on this preliminary observation, frankincense oil may represent an alternative intravesical therapy for bladder cancer, although more bladder cancer cell lines and animal models need to be used to confirm current observations" (Frank, M.et al, BMC, 2009).
