Cardiovascular disease is no joke. Is your doctor ordering accurate and predictive tests for your heart health? If not, you need to see us. We run comprehensive and predictive tests that are covered by insurance. We are not cardiac interventionists, but this valuable information can be shared with your cardiologist so you can prevent cardiac events and stop the progression of cardiovascular disease. We can find out which medications you should never take and which ones you can take or take with caution with our pharmacokinetics testing. You'll will also learn which nutraceuticals are appropriate for your condition whether you have elevated cholesterol, high triglycerides, high blood pressure or poor cardiac output.

Studies show that HDL and LDL are poor predictors of your cardio risk. Cardiovascular disease is tied to your blood sugar regulation so these systems are always checked together to get the bigger picture.

We check all 6 of your diabetes markers. I'll bet your doctor checks HgA1c and that's it. We check insulin, fructosamine, C-peptide, glycomark and more.

We check your Fibrinogen levels. Why? Because Fibrinogen tells us if you are at increased risk for clotting which leads to atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) and an increased risk of stroke and heart attack. If your blood sugar is dysregulated and elevated this causes inflammation directly in your vessels and thickens your blood. This should be checked once a year.

People with uncontrolled diabetes have significantly higher risk of cardiovascular events.

Next, we check HS-CRP a highly sensitive c-reactive protein marker for inflammation in the body that is associated with insulin resistance, Alzheimer's, dementia, fatty liver and other conditions that go along with poorly controlled diabetes. We check everyone for this marker because it is a non-specific inflammatory marker that shows specific inflammatory effects on the heart. Your heart is not getting enough blood flow you will need surgical intervention sooner than later. If you have the right information then you can make calm decisions before you have a medical crisis. Knowledge is power.

The last and most important marker to check is Lp(a). Lp(a) is not so easy to modify with diet, exercise and meditation or medications. It can be elevated because of uncontrolled diabetes, estrogen deficiency (menopause), severe hypothyroidism, chronic renal failure and other conditions. Elevated Lp(a) means serious business; it means you are on the clock to be more aggressive to seek medical intervention in an effort to improve your heart health picture.

If you need to go further:

Modern medicine diagnostics with advanced technology imaging are useful predictors of your heart health picture. You may benefit from a CT angiography of your coronary arteries to check for blockages and a Coronary Artery Calcium score plus a Coronary Artery Calcium Density study. We can make referrals to the experts in our area who provide these services.
