We know that inflammation is linked to several chronic conditions and now we have proof of another linkage - Osteoporosis and increased risk of fractures.  Inflammation is linked to cardiovascular disease, Type I and Type II diabetes and dementia.  New evidence links chronic systemic inflammation to osteoporosis and an increased fracture risk in adults.

When I order labs to check for inflammation levels I look for increased circulating levels of inflammatory cytokines: Tumor Necrosis Factor TNF, C- reactive protein, Interleukin 6 IL-6 and Interleukin 1 IL-1. These markers are useful to show patients to give concrete evidence of inflammation and why they need to make significant lifestyle changes in their diet, sleep and exercise regimens.  C-reactive protein above 3 mg/L increased the risk of fracture.

Interleukin 6 showed the strongest association to inflammation and osteoporosis in both sexes.

Most of the previous studies looked at older white women and there was a 1.5-fold to 2.5-fold greater risk of fracture in women who had higher levels of inflammation compared to those with lower levels.

Wouldn't it make sense to find out what your level of inflammation is now before you experience bone loss?  Remember, osteoporosis is a silent disease and affects both men and women.

We offer full bone health testing and treatment.

Elevated lead is linked to poor kidney function, inflammation and osteoporosis. I check every patient for heavy metal toxicity. We use chelation to get the lead out to reverse cardiovascular disease, prevent osteoporosis, improve cognition, increase blood flow to their sexual organs (chelation addresses the root cause of erectile dysfunction) and reverse asthma.  Call to Get Started Today!
