Suffering from fibroids? Know your options.

While many women who have fibroids may present no issues, some fibroids can be painful and even debilitating.  Symptoms can include heavy or irregular periods, lower back and pelvic pain, pressure on the bladder or rectum and difficulty with urination and defection.

Fibroids are benign tumors composed of dense smooth muscle fibers located in the uterus.  While there is no definitive cause, studies point to genetics, hormones and other growth factors to be the most likely causes.

In one study, Caucasian women had associative link to eating dairy products while women of color had genetic links to creating fibroids.

Many studies have also shown that environmental pollutants play a part in fibroids as they lead to hormonal imbalances.  Growth promoting hormones used in meat ad dairy can cause problems particularly in women.  Eating organic and eliminating GMO food is important as well as avoiding personal products with other known endocrine disruptors. Reducing toxicity in the body leads to less inflammation and a stronger overall bodily system.

If toxic load in the body is not managed, it can cause a chronic state of inflammation. Inflammation in the body is associated with autoimmune disorders and infectious diseases.

For many women laparoscopic surgery is an easy fix but for some surgery is not the best option. Also if the underlying cause of the fibroids is not dealt with, they will return after to the surgery.  If surgery is not an option diet and lifestyle changes, dietary supplements, hormone balancing and exercises are some of the first steps.

Ozone therapy is also a safe an effective treatment for fibroids.
