Do you have Type II diabetes?  Was it recommended for you to eat 5 or 6 meals per day to control your blood sugar levels? Researchers have found that was the wrong wisdom.

Find out why. . . .

New research suggests that eating 2 large meals, breakfast and lunch, per day is the best for Type II diabetes management to control weight and blood sugar regulation. Frequent meals did not result in better control and snacks were typically higher in sugar and fat which compounded the original problem. "The old saying, 'Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dine like a pauper,' may become the new modern wisdom.

When patients ate a large breakfast and lunch and skipped dinner, they lost more weight on average (1.4 kg more), had less hepatic fat, lower glucose, fasting insulin and fasting glucagon as compared to those who consumed 6 smaller meals. Fasting plasma glucagon doesn't usually budge even with most Type II diabetes medications, but two large meals decreased the levels. Fasting plasma glucagon increased with 6 small meals.

We offer full pre-diabetes and diabetes screenings in all of our offices. If you want calorie restriction and high levels of protein you can make a great protein shake for breakfast and lunch with Xymogen's OptiCleanse GHI, OptiMetaboliX, FIT Food Whey or VegaPro. OptiMetabolix offers the best blood sugar regulation. Chai, Chocolate, Vanilla Delight and Chocolate Mint are delicious flavors that everyone loves.
