Researchers assessed the impacts of a calorie restricted diet containing EVOO on body composition and metabolic disruptions related to obesity. They saw not only an improvement in body fat but, also in blood pressure following the olive oil consumption. The study was based on women with excess body fat. The results from the study showed a nearly 80% higher fat loss in the EVOO group than the control.
The researchers from the study suggest the use of EVOO in calorie restricted diets in treatment for obesity.
EVOO is good for the heart as well. Good unsaturated fats in olive oil, nuts and avocados and vegetables contain high levels of nitrates. Not to be confused with nitrites in processed meats. When you combine spinach, celery and carrots with good fats the combination forms nitro fatty acids. Nitro fatty acids lower blood pressure and incidence of stroke, heart failure and cardiac events.
