Get to know the signs of stroke. It can save someone's brain.
Women live longer and they are hit harder by stroke which is the third leading cause of death in women. My mother had a stroke and struggled through daily rehabilitation to reconnect her brain. She openly talked about the difficulty of doing simple tasks, the humiliation of being dependent on others and exhausted with the prospect of the long journey back to full function. My mother at 88 had just finished teaching her exercise class where she lives, went back to her room and was found by a nursing assistant who called 911. We are all trained to act emergently when someone is having a heart attack to save the heart muscle and we need to do the same with a brain attack to save brain tissue.
In honor of her, I would like to remind my readers about the signs of stroke.
- Sudden one-sided weakness or numbness of the face or limb
- Difficult speaking or understanding speech - ask the person to say their name or smile
- Sudden severe headache - is this a really bad headache that came out of nowhere?
- Unexplained dizziness
- Sudden loss of some vision
- A quick acronym - FAST
- FAST stands for face droop, arm weakness, speech difficulty and time to call 911
We test patients for MTHFR differences, blood viscosity, and particle size to get a better understanding of your risk for stroke. Elevated lead is linked to increased risk for stroke. It is important to test your heavy metal status each year so we can work on reducing your total body burden. We offer ozone chelation for elevated lead. This is the fastest way to eliminate heavy metals. Regular chelation takes on average 30 I.V. sessions whereas ozone chelation turbo charges the process. All ozone chelation is MD ordered and RN administered in NYS.
We recommend a protection plan against stroke with protective brain nutraceuticals like: Xymogen's 5-MTHF, Brain Sustain, Resveratin or Nattokinase.
