Want to satisfy your sweet tooth's cravings and lower your blood glucose levels? The number of people in the United States with diabetes is at 29 million, with 57 million prediabetic. The incidence of diabetes is increasing by about 1% per year with no prediction of an end.

Prior to 1940 there were no cases of type-2 diabetes, and type 1 was rare. The reason for this astronomical rise in diabetes could be blamed on America's growing farming industry.

Fruit juices and high-glycemic wheat products were pumped into the diets of people across the country. Oats and bran were giving about 60% of the average persons caloric intake adding about 60 teaspoons of sugar to the bloodstream a day.

Research devoted a lot of time on minimizing salt intake to aid in diabetes. Natural foods began being replaced with processed foods like margarine instead of real butter.

It can be frustrating for diabetics when night craving and snacking happens.  Elevated blood sugar levels go on through the evening and morning.  A research scientist who studies diabetes and its pathophysiology recently discovered that a protein powder/ fruit smoothie could not only help to satisfy the craving for sweets, but also lower blood glucose levels.

Because fruit has such a high content of water it is incredibly filling as well. The combination of the protein powder and fruit has less then half of the glycemic load compared to typically craved foods such as candies or cake.

It is best to use fruits such as peaches, cantaloupe, watermelon, strawberries and blueberries. Fruit contains naturally occuring fructose and the sweetest of all sugars, but natural fructose does not cause a rise in blood glucose or liver issues.

We recommend full pre-diabetes and diabetes screenings.  If you want calorie restriction and high levels of protein you can make a great protein shake for breakfast and lunch with Xymogen's OptiCleanse GHI Sugar and Stevia Free, OptiMetaboliX, FIT Food Whey or VegaPro.  OptiMetabolix offers the best blood sugar regulation.  Chai, Chocolate, Vanilla Delight and Chocolate Mint are delicious flavors that everyone loves These flavors will help you kick that sweet craving.
