Fire up the grill and stay gluten free! This is your summer fun survival guide! Including tips on staying gluten free at those barbecues, protecting yourself from the sun and heat!

1. Gluten free cookout!

Do you dread having to always eat your favorite BBQ foods sans bun? Don't be embarrassed to come fully equipped with your own set of gluten free buns and/or snacks! Stop subjecting yourself to "bunless" burgers and hot dogs eaten with plastic cutlery (unless thats how you enjoy it). There are tons of gluten free options and brands, find your favorite! I'm sure the grill master will be happy to throw your burger on a gluten free bun for you! Udi's and Rudi's both make gluten free buns and  are most likely available at your local supermarket.

Worried there won't be a gluten free desert after dinner for you? Don't be, just bring something to the party that you and everyone can enjoy! Here's a link for gluten free apple pie! https://www.thespruce.com/old-fashioned-gluten-free-apple-pie-1450966

Don't let your gluten sensitivity slow you down! Enjoy summer being gluten-free and looking great. Life begins after gluten.

2. Skin Care

OK, so we got down enjoying the party gluten free style, but how do you keep your skin as safe as possible? Just because you might not be laying out basking in the sun at the beach doesn't mean you do not have to protect your skin.

If you are like me and burn quickly and easily it is usually second nature to remember the sunscreen, but if you don't burn easily it does not mean you do not need to protect your skin!

UV exposure is a major risk factor in skin cancer. UVA and UVB radiation can cause DNA, protein and lipid damage. Topical sunscreens provide short and long term effects in protecting against the harmful rays of the sun.

Do not risk your skin health for a nice tan. Using a sunscreen high in SPF and still getting a tan is better then being bright red and putting yourself at risk. Mineral sunscreens offer an even healthier and more spreadable option.

Visit Environmental Working Group's database for non-toxic and safter options for sun screens

Although you cannot replace your topical sunscreen with these vitamins, it doesn't hurt to consume them in addition. Also, don't forget to try and get in the shade every so often if you are standing outside in the sun.

What can you do for protection? Take Xymogen's CoQMax Ubiquinol, Bio C 1:1, Vitamin E and Green Tea 600 daily for the best protection against Melanoma.  Xymogen has their own skin care line. Check them out www.xymogen.com
