Curcumin is showing incredible results in studies.

RA is difficult to treat beyond symtom control, it is possible to slow down the progression of joint damage if caught early enough. But generally conventional treatment just covers up the problem without healing it.

NSAIDs and glucocorticoids are the leading treatments but cause a handful of other problems such as stomach and liver damage,  allergic reactions, increased blood pressure etc. Although they are able to control the pain and inflammation they are not stopping any of the joint damage caused by RA.

If RA goes untreated, patients can see permanent disability in as little as 3 years. The body tricks itself inyo fighting its own tissues in RA. Intestinal permeabilty or "leaky gut" play a role in this disease as well.

In comes Curcumin.

Turmeric is already known to relieve symptoms of RA and curcumin is the active ingredient in turmeric. It could be an herbal force in fighting RA.  In a study that tested the effects of curcumin on RA patients it out performed for best results in symtom reduction.

Curcumin also has the ability to treat another part of RA which is depression. There are high instances off anxiety and depression in RA patients and Curcumin is a natural therapy for both condition. Kill two birds with one spice! Patients with major depressive disorder showed a great response to fluoxetine and curcumin enhanced with turmeric essential oil.

But there is more folks! Curcumin also has the potential to relieve inflammatory bowel disease that leads to leaky gut. Patients with Chron's disease has improvement in pain, less frequent bowel movements, less cramping and better formed stool.
