What is killing Hispanics? I'll give you three guesses. www.secondnaturecare.com

What do you think is killing Hispanics? Is it living environment, Western processed diet or Donald Trump's inflammatory remarks? While the latter may give some a political headache it's something else.

The leading cause of death among U.S. Hispanics is cancer. This finding is published every three years by the American Cancer Society. Male Hispanics are dying from lung cancer. This means for every six cancer deaths in the Hispanic community one of the six is a Hispanic male with lung cancer. The 2015 projections for Hispanics include 125,900 new cancer cases and 37,800 cancer deaths in the same year.

The second leading cause of cancer in the Hispanic community is colorectal cancer and liver cancer is projected to surpass colorectal cancer in men. Liver cancer diagnosis and death is double for Hispanic men and women compared to non-Hispanic whites. The leading cause of cancer death in Latina women is breast cancer followed by lung and colorectal cancers.

Lung cancer is a leading cause of death for all women in the U.S. since 1987 and lung cancer death rates for Latina women are 70% lower compared to non-white Hispanic white women because Latinas have a history of low to no smoking. Stay smart Latina women and continue your cultural awareness of no smoking.

The good news is that cancer rates are dropping 2.4 % per year in men and 0.5% in women. Cancer rates are 20% lower in Hispanics compared to non-Hispanic whites who are diagnosed with the four most common cancers - prostate, breast, lung and colon.

Hispanics have a higher risk of cancers in the stomach, liver and cervix - all cancers associated with infectious agents or viruses. This is where I.V. ozone therapy can be useful. I.V. ozone therapy has a proven value to chronic infections caused by viruses. We offer local ozone treatment to the cervix to treat women with pre-cervical cancer.

Early diagnosis means better prognosis. There is still a racial disparity of access to healthcare and getting a diagnosis at an early stage especially for melanoma and breast cancer.

There are 3 things that I can do to fight cancer in the Hispanic community. I am available to speak about cancer prevention for free. I can see patients in my office. I am willing to give a free 30 minute consult and make cancer prevention recommendations over the phone.
