You know this woman. You and your gal pals go out for drinks and laughs each week. Your doctor told you that drinking alcohol is cardioprotective, right? Let's review a recent large imaging study from Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston to examine moderate alcohol use in 4500 mainly white, 60 % women and average age 76 to be sure . . .
We know that excessive alcohol consumption is associated with cardiomyopathy in both sexes.
Some interesting facts from this study:
- Nondrinkers were likely to be women with higher body mass index
- Nondrinkers of both genders were older, had lower education levels and lower incomes
- Nondrinkers were more likely to be diabetic, have lower LDL's (lower-density lipoproteins), lower HDL's and higher triglycerides to HDL ratios
- Drinkers who had more than 14 drinks per week were more likely to be frequent smokers. They had higher LDL's and HDL's.
- Hypertension was more frequent among nondrinkers and in drinkers who consumed more than 14 drinks per week. Check your lead levels. The underlying cause of hypertension and alcoholism.
- Drinkers had larger left ventricular valve openings and closings and larger left atrial diameter.
- Female drinkers had lower left ventricular ejection fraction.
Book your new patient ozone session today. Improve your cardiovascular health with ozone chelation to remove plaque and lead-causing plaque. You need ozone for a healthy heart especially if you are a post-menopausal female. I.V. ozone therapy combined with ozone inhalation is the best treatment to improve ejection fraction, lipid panels and cardiac function outside of surgical interventions.
