Colonics for Colonoscopy Prep - Second Nature Care Colonics

Written by Dr. Isadora Guggenheim | May 22, 2015 3:00:00 PM

Colonoscopy prep has always been horrible and it's about to get interesting.

A new small pilot study showed that meals infused with the laxative agent PEG-3350, sorbitol and ascorbic acid showed good-to-excellent bowel cleansing when eaten the day before colonoscopy. The study comes out of Dartmouth-Hitchcock center in New Hampshire.  Doctors involved with the study founded Colonary Concepts to commercialize their research.

It is called an "edible colon preparation". The old standard was fasting and drinking 2-4 liters of liquid laxative which was associated with permanent renal tubule damage in the kidneys. The new method is meant to create better compliance and incorporate foods that are quickly evacuated from the G.I. tract.

I like to keep my colon cleansing action separate from my enjoyment of eating food unless I'm eating a raw green papaya salad from The Vietnam Restaurant.  Green papaya is delicious and is a natural colon cleanser.

The laxatives were infused into pasta, pretzels with dipping sauce, smoothies and non-alcoholic pina colada drinks. The researchers created standardized dosing and maintained proper electrolyte balance.
Second Nature Care Colonics
Call me old-fashioned, but we have been cleaning colons for the past 15 years with a proven and safe thousand year old technique - colonics. Colonics are usually painless and done within an hour. Using mechanized pressure and temperate water, colonics don't involve forming gas, distention, fermentation and cramping. Our colonic therapists, Janine and Lenita, perform a vibrational detox massage to release every organ system. Patients go in with a myriad of symptoms and leave feeling better immediately.  Their skin breathes, they feel lighter and are according to the scale, they think better and their coping mechanisms are greatly improved. Colonics are my prep of choice for colonoscopies.
