Obesity shortens your Life - Weight Loss for Children

Written by Dr. Isadora Guggenheim | Dec 14, 2014 3:00:00 PM

Santa Claus is adorable.  We love his bubbly girth, sage wisdom and passion for bringing joy to all girls and boys.  We want him to stay around for a long time.  He could live longer if he lost some weight.

Obese young men and women are more likely to have and suffer from diabetes and cardiovascular disease for about 20 years.  They will die 8 years sooner than normal-weight peers.  Santa who is older and slightly overweight loses healthy years off his life.

Childhood obesity is at an epidemic crisis.  The younger the child and the more that they weigh has a greater effect on their health.  Healthy years of life are lost.

Real weight loss for children

We have successfully worked with children and adults to permanently lose weight.  The first goal is near. You only need to lose 10 pounds and exercise 30 minutes a day to drop your risk of diabetes by 60%. That's a small effort in return for a big reward.

What's the difference between healthy life-years and years of life?  Healthy life-years means that you are enjoying a healthy life that is not ruled by disease.  Years of life lost means that you actually lose time on the planet and if you are ill because of obesity then you might be alive and suffering with a chronic illness.

I hope Santa delivers juicers to boys and girls so they can have fun making healthy concoctions with fruits and vegetables.  I'd throw in some bouncy balls, jump ropes and exercise tapes to get young bodies moving.

If you have a group of 6 - 8 kids who want to be healthy contact us.  We have a 6 week program that celebrates everyone's individuality (culture, gender and religion), is fun and is effective at getting all participants to lose weight and be active.
