The New Weapon for Weight Loss - Berberines - Naturopathic Medicine - Xymogen's Berbemycin

Berberines have been around for a long time in Chinese herbal medicine.  I remember studying berberines in medical school for their medicinal properties and antimicrobial actions.  Great for infections, midwives have known about berberines for centuries to prevent infections after birth.

Now you can use berberines for your 2015 weight loss plan.  A new study with obese mice were injected daily with berberines for 4 weeks and the results were not mousey.  The naturally occuring alkaloids in berberines increased the metabolic burning capacity in rodents.  These mice generated more heat when exposed to cold.  Berberines were found to limit weight gain, improve cold tolerance and enhance brown fat activity.  In short, berberines make you burn fat.

There must be something to this research because berberines are being studied at the Shanghai Institute of Endocrine and Metabolic Disease.  The Chinese traditionally used berberines as an anti-diarrhea medication until they found this to be a useful strategy for the treatment of obesity.

Berberines are well-tolerated and they protect against weight gain.  Isn't that something that we are all looking for as the holiday season kicks into high gear?

We have the best berberine formula at Second Nature for the Holidays.

Recap: Berberines increase your body's adaptation to cold exposures by generating more heat and burning more calories.  Berberines activate key fat-burning genes. PGC-1-alpha estrogen-related receptor alpha, nuclear respiratory factor 1, CIDEA, COX8band, Isdp5 and UCP1 transciption were all strongly induced for the biochemically-minded.  Berberines allowed less dietary lipids to accumulate in brown fat and the number of mitochondria (organs that produce energy) increased after berberine treatment.
