Leading Lyme disease specialists call for even more antibiotics and other toxic drugs to kill Lyme and co-infections than they did before. This only magnifies the vicious circle created by antibiotics in all chronic infections since healthy cannot be restored by the very means that destroyed it. Even the reputable infection disease specialist have realized this problem. One of these, professor of infection disease at NYU and former president of the Infectious Disease Society of America, Martin J. Blaser, MD, published a well referenced book on health destroying effects of antibiotics, leading to a long list of chronic diseases. Even the discoverer of antibiotics, Professor Alexander Fleming, MD forewarned in his Nobel Prize acceptance speech as long back as in 1945, that microbes will outwit antibiotics, which are to e used with great caution to prevent deadlier infections than the original, due to mutations. But in the absence of a better means to harness infections, medical practitioners have continued the antibiotic onslaught. While one of the main goals of Lyme treatment is relief from pain an is sufferings, the most devastating of all antibiotics, fluoroquinolones, are offered too, and are known to inflict horrendous pain, due to neurological damage. Other relevant side effects of antibiotics include damage to kidneys. At Second Nature we treat Lyme without antibiotics and can help you get your Lyme under control. OZONE THERAPY TO TREAT COGNITIVE FRAGILITY

Is it possible to cure the condition of cognitive fragility which, in increasing percentages, affects the elderly population with a non-pharmacological therapy, at low cost, without side effects?

“The answer is yes”. According to doctors and professors Catia Scassellati et al, it is possible to answer this question in the affirmative.

The solution is in the practice of oxygen ozone therapy, which is able to “modulate the immune, inflammatory, oxidant, metabolic, endocrine, microbiotic and regenerative processes altered in cognitive fragility” and which “could represent a convenient and economical single intervention, functioning in the absence of side effects”.

Their solution was illustrated in a well-documented study published by the journal Mechanisms of Aging and Development.

The study cited explains that, in the last decade, cognitive fragility has gained great attention from the scientific community. Although several treatments are available, problems persist regarding both the effectiveness and costs of treatment.

For this reason, the authors of the study propose oxygen ozone therapy which, in an economical and efficient way, could modulate the immune, inflammatory, oxidizing, metabolic, endocrine, microbiota and regenerative processes compromised in cognitive fragility.

Positive Effects of Ozone Therapy

The positive effects of ozone are mainly attributed to the activation of the immune and anti-inflammatory systems, to the upregulation of cellular antioxidant enzyme activity, to the improvement of the release of growth factors from platelets, to enhanced blood circulation and to the the consequent better delivery of O2 to the tissues. This leads to an enhanced overall metabolism.

The study emphasizes that oxygen-ozone therapy “acquires significant value due to its well-known and widely demonstrated ability to cure a broad spectrum of diseases: cardiovascular (coronary artery disease); metabolic (diabetes, hyperglycemia); respiratory (emphysema, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease); neurodegenerative (Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease); digestive disease (steatosis, non-alcoholic steatohepatitis, cirrhosis)”.

An increasing number of clinical studies have highlighted the efficacy of oxygen ozone therapy in the treatment of cardiovascular, peripheral vascular, neurological, degenerative, orthopedic, gastrointestinal and genitourinary diseases, as well as in the treatment of multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, skin diseases, wounds, ulcers from diabetes, infectious diseases, lung diseases, osteomyelitis.

Citing the huge bibliography available, the authors emphasize that “oxygen ozone therapy is a non-invasive, non-pharmacological and side-effect-free procedure applied in medicine for the treatment of over 50 different diseases”.

In this regard, the authors of the study recall that in 2016 the Italian Ministry of Health approved a project (RF 2016-02363298) aimed at testing the effectiveness of oxygen ozone therapy in the treatment of cognitive fragility.

The authors conclude by stating that “while being aware that further studies are needed, this review reports substantial scientific evidence to build a rationale for the use of oxygen ozone therapy in an early stage of cognitive decline, when it is still possible to intervene before a potential neurodegenerative pathology”.

To date, cognitive frailty is considered a geriatric condition characterized by the coexistence of a condition of physical frailty with a specific degree of cognitive impairment.

In 2006, “cognitive fragility” was indicated as a clinical label for a particular vulnerable state in mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and other similar clinical entities exposed to vascular risk factors, resulting in increased progression to dementia.

Since 2007, frailty has also been considered in its biological and psychosocial aspects. In this case, the frailty index represents a measure of the general decline in health associated with age, due to the accumulation of health-related deficits.

In 2013 a common consensus was reached on the definition of “cognitive frailty” thanks to the International Academy of Nutrition and Aging (IANA) and the International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics (IAGG).

The authors of the study are all Italian. Doctors Scassellati, Ciani, Zanardini, Bonvicini and Geroldi work and teach at the Biological Psychiatry Unit, Molecular Marker Laboratory, Alzheimer Unit of the IRCCS Istituto Centro San Giovanni di Dio Fatebenefratelli in Brescia. Dr. Galoforo, among his many professional positions, is a member of the board of the SIOOT (Scientific Society of Oxygen Ozone Therapy) and lecturer at the Master in Ozone Therapy at the University of Pavia.
