Vitamin D3 The Hormone We All Need

Written by Dr. Isadora Guggenheim | May 10, 2020 8:00:00 PM

What is so special about Vitamin D3?

Vitamin D is a fat-soluble hormone that we can either get from foods like mushrooms or fish, or it is produced in our skin when a form of cholesterol reacts to UV light.

Vitamin D maintains calcium levels in our bones otherwise people would get rickets and osteoporosis with Vitamin D deficiencies. Less is known about its role in our immune system.

Dr. Lucinda Messer says this about Vitamin D3 in her blog

"Vitamin D3 must be used in a therapeutic fashion for this event to occur.

Serum levels well over 60 are a must! If a patients blood level is below 55; we know that VDR activation will not occur. This activation is due to vitamin D saturating the receptors."

"A deficiency in vitamin D is the main reason we have skyrocketing incidence of Cancer, MS, Diabetes, Osteoporosis, Depression, Season Affective Disorder, Autism, Hypertension and more. And what can healthy levels of vitamin D do for you? To start with, activated vitamin D can: halt tumor growth and reduce tumor size, improve heart health by regulating blood pressure, improve insulin production and regulate blood sugar levels, improve chances of survival from cancer related surgery, keep bones healthy by regulating calcium levels, improve mental health and provide protection from the common cold, viruses and much, much more"

I hammer on about this hormone because it is essential to our health and well-being.
