Could Your Diet Be Causing Your Skin Condition?

Is your acne or rash the result of something in your diet?

Eating certain foods can trigger an immune response. This can cause inflammation in the body, which is a common cause of various types of skin conditions and rashes.  Some of the most common trigger foods are dairy, corn, soy, eggs, wheat and gluten.

Dairy causes harm to your skin. While you think you are helping your bones grow strong you are actually hurting your skin. Dairy consumption can cause the eyelids to swell, create dark bags under the eyes and pale cheeks. It also causes acne with a concentration of zits around the chin. If you need the extra calcium a teaspoon of sesame seeds or sauteed spinach with lemon meets your calcium requirements in a much healthier way.

It can be hard to digest lactose even if you aren't lactose intolerant. It could be effecting your complexion. The difficulty of digestion causes inflammation all over the body and it shows in your face.
Processed foods and sugars can also be the cause of changes in our GI microbiome. They can impact digestion, predispose us to allergies or sensitivities, cause blood fluctuations and cause inflammation. All of this can lead to skin issues.

It is not always as easy as eliminating dairy to get to the root cause of your diet induced skin rash. One way to figure out if something you are eating is the issue is to try an elimination diet.  By eliminating potential trigger foods from your diet for 30 days and then slowly reintroducing them one by one you can most likely get to the bottom of which food is causing the problem.  If your symptoms diminish but than return at the reintroduction of a particular food, you have found your trigger!

When trying to restore skin and body health it is important to remember that along with eliminating ingredients that are negatively impacting you but also adding in vitamins, minerals and foods that have positive effects on the body.

Probiotics and probiotics may be greatly beneficial in supplementing when doing any type of elimination diet. It is also important to ensure your body is receiving the nutrients it needs. Supplementing with omega-3 fatty acid, zinc, vitamins A,E,D or B complex may also be helpful,

It is always important to discuss these types of health issues with your doctor. We offer comprehensive blood baseline labs for our patients with psoriasis and eczema and other skin conditions.  We find all of the underlying root causes to your condition. I recommend Xymogen's ProbioMax DF and RegeneMax Plus to start your internal skin rejuvenation program. I.V. Ozone with additional German biologics can ensure younger skin and a stronger immune system.
