Are you at high risk for IBD? Irritable Bowel Disease

You can be at higher risk of IBD according to what population subgroup you belong to says one study.

Over 3 millions U.S adults reported a diagnosis of IBD last year and the prevelance was distributed across certain sociodemographic factors including age, education, ethnicity, income and employment status.

A higher prevalence of IBD was seen in adults over 45 and in non-Hispanic whites.

Adults who had less than a high school level of education a higher prevelance of IBD compared with those who had a bachelor's degree or higher. Also those who were unemployed verses those currently employed and family income effected IBD rates as well.

Also, the data contradicted findings from some earlier reports, including regional and sex differences in prevalence.
