A pH-balanced form of vitamin C, sodium ascorbate, is effective in treating sepsis.
Results from a clinical trial, conducted by the Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health, Australia, have shown promising signs of fighting hospital contracted sepsis by treating the blood with sodium ascorbate.

Sepsis claims over 270,000 American adult lives yearly and accounts for 35-50% of hospital deaths according to Yugeesh Lankadeva the study's lead investigator.   "It occurs when the immune system fails to fight off an underlying infection, causing life-threatening falls in blood pressure, multiple organ failure, and death." (Lankadeva, 2023)

Sepsis is notoriously difficult to treat so the researchers are moving to the next phase of testing after uncovering such promising results.

"In the first trial of 30 patients receiving intensive care treatment, 15 were given sodium ascorbate via their bloodstream and 15 a placebo. Those who were given sodium ascorbate produced more urine, suggesting improved kidney function, and required less noradrenaline treatment to restore blood pressure to a safe range. It also resulted in signs of better organ function across the board."  (Thompson, 2023)

Around 1.7 million American adults develop sepsis each year. Telltale signs are fever, chills, rapid breathing and heart rate, rash, confusion, and disorientation. Because these symptoms are shared by a lot of serious illnesses, sepsis is particularly difficult to diagnose and treat in its early stages.

Vitamin C also offers a variety of other benefits. Vitamin C plays a vital role in blood pressure regulation and the formation of collagen.  Collagen makes up our blood vessels and gives them a flexible element.  Vitamin C protects against infections from viruses and bacteria.  We recommend that patients take Vitamin C daily and find a comfortable daily dose somewhere between 500mg up to 3000 mg for some. The dose depends on an individual's constitution, their medical condition and bowel tolerance. Foods high in vitamin C are raw peppers, fresh oranges, orange juice, black currents, citrus fruits and parsley. High vitamin C rich foods are not enough to provide therapeutic clinical changes so we need to take Vitamin C supplements and or I.V. Vitamin C drips.

At Second Nature Care we offer Vitamin C I.V's along with other I.V. Ozone Therapies.
