Second Nature Care - Your environmental detox experts

BPA and other estrogenic compounds damage you right down to your stem cells.  In men, BPA exposure is linked to declining sperm counts worldwide. Find out how it affects women and children.  It's not high dose exposures that cause a problem; it's low dose brief exposures to bisphenol-A early in life during specific biochemical development that creates later in life issues.  These exposures affect sperm production for a man's entire life.  Worldwide sperm counts have declined and 40% of young men in Denmark have low sperm counts associated with infertility.

A new study from Washington State University found that these exposures caused "permanent alterations" to stem cells.

We test and treat all of your environmental exposures.  We use every available treatment modality to restore your health.  We are your DETOX EXPERTS.

Our exposure to BPA is not decreasing.  I cringe when I still see 'breast cancer survivors" at the gym drinking out of plastic bottles.  Cans, receipts, paper products and synthetic estrogen in birth control contaminates our drinking water even after water treatment.  It exposes all of us to BPA and hormone-mimicking chemicals. You can't wipe your mouth with a napkin or your behind with toilet paper without getting a daily dose of BPA.

Reproductive Repercussions

I've blogged about how these exposures affect testis size, sperm development, prostate growth and sexual differentiation issues in the brain especially in boys.  There is a direct link to undescended testis. When you damage stem cells then you create a transgenerational loss of sperm production.  Environmental exposures cause detrimental changes for up to five generations. Like the division of land masses shifting when continents were formed millions of years ago, we are witnessing epigenetic changes at a rapid rate that do not follow normal evolutionary rhythms.

Women and BPA

Women have the greatest risk of damage to their hearts from BPA exposure. All of our food and drink packaging is making female hearts more sensitive to stress-induced blood flow restriction.  BPA is linked to neurological defects, autism, infertility, diabetes, breast and prostate cancer, asthma and now the female heart.  It affects the male heart too, but women experience the most heart damage.

Even with estrogen protection, female mice when exposed to BPA, were much more sensitive to cardiotoxic damage on blood flow to the heart, heart rate and blood pressure.

Valentine's Day is next month. Celebrate your healthy heart and buy stainless steel food containers and a glass or stainless steel drinking bottles.

Safe alternative?  Not so fast. Bisphenol-S, the "safe alternative," to BPA caused abnormal neurological growth surges in animal embryos. Also known as BPS it was worse than BPA the original chemical. This chemical made zebra fish who share 80% of their genes with us become hyperactive after exposure to BPS. Male zebra fish suffered more abnormal growth of brain cells maybe explaining a higher rate of 4 to 1 of autism in boys. Pregnant women especially in their third trimester are warned to be aware of and reduce their exposure to BPA and BPS.  These endocrine-disrupting chemicals cause oxidative stress and long-term health consequences to the developing baby.

Oxidative stress is measured by higher levels of protein-bound oxidized tyrosine 3-nitrotyrosine Y

The FDA does not require testing. "It's considered safe until proven otherwise."

#1 Do not store your food or drink in plastic.  Buy food and drink in glass containers.

#2 Never microwave food or drink in plastic, period.  Don't microwave anything. It is a non-selective nutrient killing machine.

#3 Buy organic and local.

nanoparticles

Nanoparticles are small molecules that are present in sunscreen, cosmetics and biomedical devices. Nanoparticles are now in pesticides and we don't know what their full effect is on human biology. How do they breakdown; what is their half-life?  If sprayed on crops what is the ripple effect on all animals?

There is talk and research on nano-sized sensors to alert farmers of low nitrogen in the soil and nanosensors in food packaging that lights up and signals a pathogenic food bacteria.

Inhalation is a major route of exposure so don't live near a treated field because chlorpyrifos exposure is associated with autism in babies born near treated fields in Northern California.  It is a known neurotoxin that literally interferes with nerve synapses so the neural signals can't turn off creating neural over-stimulation.  Linked to birth defects, low birth weights, endocrine disruption and pervasive developmental delays, Chlorpyrifos continues to affect developing babies at a higher rate because they do not have an enzyme to metabolize this organophosphate.  In utero,we do not have the needed enzyme; it's only after birth that it gets switched on.

Second Nature Care Detoxification

Ozone therapy is assistive in moving heavy metals out of the body.  My patients who are doing ozone chelation are having great results.  I still advocate infra-red and Finnish sauna 2-3 times per week to detoxify from our chemical exposures.  I have great oral protocols for detoxification right down to the cellular level.

We have to protect ourselves from environmental exposures.  We the start the process with education, awareness, avoidance, testing and treatment.
