How many contrast-enhanced MRI's have you had? If you've had several you probably have deposits of gadolinium in your brain. Researchers found gadolinium deposits in the brains of deceased patients who had multiple constrast-enhanced MRI's.

Gadolinium is excreted through the kidneys and liver. If you have severe chronic kidney disease you can't receive gadolinium contrast because of an increased risk for a rare skin disorder called nephrogenic systemic fibrosis.
In the research autopsies, gadolinium deposition was highest in the dentate nucleus followed by deposits in the thalamus and globus pallidus. The pons contained the lowest amount. The dentate nucleus is responsible for planning, initiation and control of voluntary movements. It is involved in motor function of skeletal muscle and another part is involved in conscious thought and visuospatial functions.
Does gadolinium interfere with or injure dentate nucleus functions?
Of note, 18% to 42% of injected gadolinium crossed the blood-brain barrier and deposited into brain tissue. Gadolinium has been of great benefit to diagnosis and monitor disease, but what is the long-term price of using it?
