If you are a woman, you should definitely read this post.Winter wrote this blog for Second Nature Care about a year ago, but it is still extremely important. Here's what Winter wrote for us:

When I originally spoke on the topic I had just seen a video circulating about the various carcinogens in tampons. This is terrifying, and not okay.

NowThis posted the video that showed some of the dangers of tampons. One of them being that 85% of tampons test positive for Glyphosate. A favorite herbicide used by Monsanto and linked to cancer. Watch it below.

Even more concerning, because tampons are considered "medical devices" there is no need to list the chemicals that are inside.

The video makes a suggestion to use organic tampons and pads to avoid the carcinogens, but that will cost you! And also, shouldn't all tampons be "organic"?

But what made me, personally, the most angry were the comments left underneath the video. Most of them from women. Women who were actually complaining, that this is a fear mongering tactic to get women to use a diva cup. Comment after comment how using the diva cup is gross, and that we don't really know "how much carcinogen is in each tampon". Well, there should not be any in my opinion. I think it is terrifying that women have to be convinced that something that they are putting INSIDE of their body is dangerous.

There is even talk that the companies could be using chemicals like asbestos to make women bleed more to increase sales. Dr. G. wrote about this issue in the late seventies when tampons were adulterated with asbestos in the cotton warehouses.

Good news ladies, we don't have to give up tampons! I did a little research and organic tampons are not actually that much more expensive.

Generally, a box of 18 tampons will cost about $6.99 and are hazardous to your health. The Honest company sells an organic alternative for $6.95 but only contains 16. At the end of the day, I think most women would rather give up the two extras for their health.

Ditch the carcinogen filled feminine products and make the switch.

The Honest Company also sells a variety of other organic everyday products, from personal care products, to baby diapers, to makeup and other beauty products. If you haven't already, check out the Honest Company tampon products.

Woman really need to stand together and stop this and at least fight for the right to have the ingredients listed so we can make thoughtful decisions.
