Are you struggling with dysmenorrhea?

One significant source of severe menstrual pain is dysmenorrhea. Dysmenorrhea is characterized as painful periods. Women affected by the pain of dysmenorrhea experience repetitive life-compromising pain. Experiencing period cramps is normal, but when your cramps are debilitating and effecting your quality of life it is not.

While experiencing such intense pain, a woman's cognition is also affected and her attention span and task accuracy is blurred.

Around 90% of women of reproductive age describe experiencing painful menstrual periods at some point.  Younger women struggle with dysmennorhea more than older women do.

Partially explained, dysmennorhea is caused by increased prostaglandin production resulting in increased uterine contractions and cramping pain. NSAIDs are believed to be beneficial by reducing prostaglandin production. Most patients prefer not to or cannot take standard therapies and still struggle with symptoms.

In searching for an alternate treatment method, researchers discovered that ginger root may have a role in the treatment of dysmennorhea.

Ginger root, used as a seasoning, spice and medicine around the world has been shown to inhibit COX-2 and has potential to reduce pain and inflammation.

Experiencing period cramps is normal, but when your cramps are debilitating and effecting your quality of life it is not.

Another source of extreme discomfort is endometriosis. Endometriosis is a serious autoimmune condition in which uterine tissue grows outside the uterus. This causes lesions in the ovaries, fallopian tubes, abdominal lining and affects the bowel and bladder. Translocated or misplaced tissue causes inflammation and extreme debilitating pain. It can take a doctor up to 10 years from the onset of pain to give a diagnosis of endometriosis because they don't believe it affects teens.

We take your pain seriously at Second Nature.  We have advanced treatments for endometriosis that work. All I.V. therapies are MD ordered in NYS.
